You will need to download this database prior to installing and initializing e-admin. Follow these steps to obtain a sample database. The system displays the e-automate Training Resource Center information.
The system displays e-automate Training Resource Center login page. Using this login page, do the following: Note: If you do not have credentials, contact ECI Software Support at eacustomercare ecisolutions. You must have an active current maintenance agreement to access the Customer Resource Center. In the User Name field, enter your user name. In the Password field, enter your password. Click the [ Log In ] button. The system displays the Customer Resource Center page. In the left pane, under Downloads , click the Training Downloads link to access the Training Downloads page.
On the displayed page, locate the version of e-automate you want to download and click the [ Download ] button. When you install a new version, it is best practice to download and install appropriate versions of add-on products. For example, if you use e-info, download and install the new version of e-info. Click on the appropriate sample database link for your needs under the Training Downloads section. Depending upon your browser and the name of the file you select to download, you will see a message similar to the following:.
Click Save to save this file to a location on your system. Note: Training database files are distributed as. With Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Express installed, a sample database downloaded, and e-admin installed which the system installs when you install the e-automate server , you are ready to initialize your server. The first time you run e-admin, you will automatically begin the initialization procedure. Before you log in to e-admin for the first time, you must know the name of your server.
To determine the name of your server, do the following:. From the right-click menu, select Properties. Locate the Full computer name field, and use only the portion of the name before the first period e. Click the [ Edit ] button pencil to open the Manage Logon Profiles window. Click [ Add ] to add an e-admin profile. The Edit Logon Profile window displays.
Typically, this name is the server name you identified in Step 1. Note: If you need to specify an alternate SQL server port, you must use the cliconfig utility from Microsoft to specify the port.
Make no change to use the name displayed, or enter an override name. Note: You can specify an alternate port to your DGServer using the server:port syntax. In the Profile name field, enter a name by which this combination of SQL server and DGserver can be identified, or accept the suggestion provided.
Click [ Finish ] to return to the Manage Logon Profiles window. Click [ OK ] to close the window and return to the e-admin login window. When you return to the e-admin login window, the profile you created will be selected in the Profile field. Click [ OK ] to log into e-admin. During login, e-admin examines the database to determine if the database is initialized. The first time you run e-admin, if the database is not initialized, the system will display the E-admin Setup window to begin the initialization process.
To continue with the initialization process, click [ OK ]. To cancel the initialization process and perform a manual setup at a later time, click [ Cancel ]. If you click [ OK ] in the previous step, the system displays a Please Wait window during processing followed by an "E-automate was successfully initialized" message.
When this message displays, click [ OK ] to acknowledge to acknowledge the message and have e-automate display the E-automate Website Setup window. You should have received the Web login , Web admin password , and Web user password in an email shortly after your software purchase. If you do not have this information, contact Customer Care. In the Web Login field, enter your web login. In the Web Admin Password field, enter your admin password. In the Web User Password field, enter the user password.
Click [ Next ]. The Configure DG Server window displays. Note: The web login information is not critical to the installation of e-admin. If you choose not to set up your web site with e-automate, simply click [ Cancel ] and you will move to the next step of initializing e-admin without any negative impact on the installation.
You will have to manually secure your License Key if you choose to skip this step. In the Full access password field, enter a password of your choosing. In the Read-only password field, enter a password of your choosing. Click [ OK ] to save the password information. The system displays the Create Company window. You use this window to create a company in e-admin. The company is where you store all of your company information. Note: ECI recommends creating a sample company to use for experimenting and testing prior to creating your usable company database.
The following instructions explain how to create a test company based on a sample database. When you are ready to create a live company, see the Creating a Company topic in the online help. In the Company ID field, enter a name for this company. The system populates the Database field based on the company name you enter.
In the Database Type field, use the drop-down menu to select Test to create a test company. Select the Restore to new company radio button to create a sample company based on a sample database. Note: When you select this radio button, the system changes the window layout to display the appropriate fields for this option. Click the browse button � to the right of the File name field to open the Browse for Backup File window.
Click the sample database name to populate the Path to backup field with the path and file name of the sample database. Click [ OK ] to close this window and populate the Backup location and File name fields on the Create Company window with the path and file name of the sample database you selected. Click [ Finish ] to create the company. When the system finishes creating the company, the system displays the following message:.
Click [ OK ]. The system displays the Enter Email Settings window. Click [ OK ] to acknowledge this message. You use the DGServer window to configure e-admin to send reminders about your database backup status. The following is the reminder and email schedule associated with e-admin backups. If you have not backed up your database for:. Note : E-admin automatically enters port 25 which is the typical mail port. Check the This server requires an encrypted connection SSL checkbox if your email server requires encryption.
In the User name field, enter your mail user name if necessary. In the Password field, enter the password associated with your User name if necessary.
Check the Use secure password authentication checkbox if your mail server uses secure password authentication.
In the Sender Address field, enter the email address from which the backup reminder emails are sent. In the Backup failure notification address field, enter the email address you want notified in the event that the e-automate databases are not backed up.
Click [ Send Test Email ] to send a test email. Click [ OK ] to acknowledge the test email in the Test Email window. Click [ OK ] to save your settings, or click [ Cancel ] to cancel your settings. If you clicked [ OK ] in the previous step, the system opens the main E-admin window. From the File menu, click Licenses Note: You currently cannot download the license key; you must contact e-automate customer care for a new license key.
Note: The field appears as though you cannot copy, but you can copy the code for license key creation. Click [ Close ] to close the Manage Users and Licenses window. Click [ Close ] to close the E-admin window until you receive your license key. The E-admin login window displays in the Profile field the last profile used to log in to the system. Make no change if you want to use this profile. Click [ OK ] to login to e-admin. Note: If you did not enter e-mail settings previously, the system will re-display messages reminding you to enter email settings see Steps above to enter this information now, or click [ OK ] and then [ Cancel ] to proceed to the main E-admin window.
In the New license key field, paste the license key you received from e-automate Customer Care. Click [ Update ] to add your key to e-admin. Ensure the User connections tab displays the correct number of licenses you purchased. If a discrepancy exists, contact your Account Manager. If your database needs to be upgraded, you will see Yes in the Needs upgrade column.
Please refer to the steps in the following section, Updating E-automate Databases for this process. After you download a sample database see the Downloading a Sample Database section above and initialize e-admin see the Initializing E-admin section above , you will need to upgrade the database if the system displays the word Yes in the Needs upgrade column of the main E-admin window.
The database must be updated to the current version before you can log into the e-automate client. To update the database from within e-admin, do the following:. From the main E-admin window, select the company database you want to update. Note: If this option is not activated, the company database you selected does not need to be updated. The system displays the Enter Admin Password window. In the Admin password for [Company ID] field, enter the appropriate admin password.
If the password is valid, e-admin displays the Backup Database Location window to back up the database in case an unforeseen error occurs.
In the Backup Location field, make no change to use the path displayed or change the path by doing one of the following:.
To use the default SQL server backup file location, click the Restore to SQL server default icon the green arrow icon to the right of the Backup location field. To specify a different backup file location at the time you select a file name, proceed to the next step; you can use the ellipsis icon If you select a different path without specifying a file name, e-admin will update the Backup location field with the path you select.
In the File name field, enter a file name, make no change to use the default file name displayed, or use the ellipsis icon Note: If you navigate to an existing path but do not select a file name, e-admin will update the Backup location field with the file path you entered. You will still need to enter a file name in the File name field.
Note: You must select an existing directory in which to place the file, and you cannot place the file in a root directory e.
If you select a root directory, e-admin will display an error message. Note: If you use the default file name, which e-admin generates based on the current system date and time, the file name is likely to be unique so as not to overwrite an existing file.
Click [ OK ] to begin the backup process. Note: If you specified a file name that already exists in the specified backup file location, e-admin will let you know the backup file already exists. You can click [ Overwrite ] to acknowledge this message and proceed with the backup, or you can click [ Cancel ] to terminate the process without overwriting the file.
The system displays a message letting you know this backup process could take some time. Click [ Yes ] to continue. During the backup process, e-admin display a Please Wait window. When e-admin completes the process, e-admin display an "Update complete" message. Your database is now updated and the word Yes no longer appears in the Needs upgrade column for this database.
After upgrading the sample database see the Updating E-automate Databases section , you can log in to e-automate using the sample database and take a look around.
